I gave my cleaning lady a raise today, even though she didn't ask, as my own little contribution to fighting the recession.

This wasn't meant to be "self important". With so much negative economic news and so many people cutting back I was concerned for someone who works for me and I care about a lot. While her other clients are cutting her hours, I decided to pay her more not because I had to, but because I wanted to. It's funny when a selfless act becomes TTH. Thanks to the response here, I have dropped her pay back down. Happy? ;)

I think you may be missing the point, Brett. It's cool to give your cleaning lady a raise ... kudos to you. It's weird to announce that to people, as if you're looking for a pat on the back. (I'm not saying you are ... just that it reads that way.) It seems less of a "selfless act" when you're seeking applause. (Again, I'm not saying you are, but I understand why some read it as such.) Peace.

You're all missing the point. I'm not seeking applause, I was trying to set an example. Our economic problems are largely the result of a "recession mentality" where spending contracts, causing manufacturing to contract, and employment to contract, etc. It's vicious cycle, and what we need to is spend and put money BACK into the economy, which was my point. No where in there is anything "self important". I thought it was a nice thing to do, and I hoped it would inspire others to do the same (and it probably did). The only people who've seen this negatively are people I don't know, and I have to wonder, why are they following me anyway?

so. obviously. seeking the pat on the back. I mean, I'm dying laughing that your "trying to set an example" lol. I mean, doode, your just making this post even funnier with your inflated sense of self importance. Thanks Gandhi, you've "inspired" me hahaha. I think your getting so much attention on this one because (and tell me if I'm missing the point ROFL): - it read like you were announcing that you had a freaking maid in a recession - that you were looking to get a "good for you" for giving your maid a raise - as well as announcing the fact that you have enough money mid recession to give an unnecessary employee MORE money. Stop dancing around and being polite kids, this was so 100% destined for TTH, haha. Don't get me wrong though, I'd trade places with ya in a heartbeat Brett, haha.

hotceleb you have to take Brettschulte for what he is, completely free entertainment. That is the beauty of twitter, not only can it be used for social networking, but also perhaps more importantly used to as comic relief, look at as a giant circus, Brettschulte is simply one of the many narcissistic clowns.

You are retarded if you don't see how TTH this is. I have a hard time believing you are a real account after reading the rest of your twitter stream because most of it is TTH. You are a self-important douche bag. You are not inspiring others, you are trying to look cool/important/rich and most people roll their eyes at you. No one cares, truly good deeds are done anonymously and not put onto twitter looking for praise. Hell, you didn't even need to put 'cleaning lady' into the tweet, you could have just said 'employee'. You didn't need to put 'even though they didn't ask' into it either, you could have just said you understand times are hard so you are giving your employees raises. You realize if people are cutting their employees hours it's because they have to, not because they are bored, right? So you look even more smarmy trying to say you are trying to inspire people not to do that by making them feel bad they can't afford what you can. Also, you look even more TTH by defending everyone elses TTH. It proves that true self-absorbed douche bags are so deluded that they truly can't see who they or others are called self-absorbed douche bags. You are not a special or unique flower Brett, get that through your head.
