Like most websites, we use cookies. Here is a quick rundown of what that actually means for you, without the legal throat-clearing.
What we set
- Essential cookies. These make the site work — keeping pages loading properly and remembering that you have already dismissed a notice. Turn these off and things break in small, irritating ways.
- Performance cookies. Our caching layer uses these to serve pages faster. They hold no personal information; they exist so you are not waiting on a page that could have been delivered instantly.
- Aggregate analytics. These tell us that a post was read four thousand times. They do not tell us that it was read by you.
What we do not set
We do not run advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or the sort of profiling tags that follow you around the internet reminding you about a jacket you looked at once. If a third-party embed appears in a post, it may set its own — that is the embed’s doing, and we keep them to a minimum for exactly this reason.
Turning them off
Every major browser lets you block or clear cookies from its settings, usually under Privacy. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all publish current instructions. Blocking everything will make this site slower and slightly clumsier, but it will still work — nothing here is gated behind a login.
